Adoption policy and fees

So your considering adopting one of our cats/kittens?

Congratulations!

You will be giving a deserving furry friend a wonderful new beginning.

It is important to know though that no adoption is without its risks so here are a few things to consider before making that final decision:

- Although all of the cats/kittens are fully vaccinated, they do come from unknown backgrounds, therefore we cannot guarantee that they will be trouble free.  Although extremely rare, sometimes we do get kittens/cats with underlying conditions that are undetectable at the time of adoption.  This is one of the risks taken when adopting, and can happen with any adoption cat.  Any costs associated with such a condition will be the responsibility of the owner.

- When adopting a cat, it is important to let your new friend settle in slowly.  We provide all owners with an information sheet on how to introduce their furry friend into a new environment as stress free as possible.  We do understand though that it does not always work out how we planned.  We are here for you.  If you have any troubles with integrating your new adoptee into your home, please contact us for advice before deciding that it is not working.  We may have the solution!

- Please consider carefully before deciding to adopt.  Many of these cats and kittens have already been passed from home to home or have never had the stability of a home before.  We want their new home to be their last!  Cats live for 15-20 years nowadays so are a big commitment.  We ask that you consider your lifestyle, future life decisions and possible moves before adopting to make sure that your new friend will fit in, no matter what changes may happen down the track.  Remember an animal is a privilege and a lifetime commitment, not a right and not disposable. There is no trial period with AWL adoption cats and kittens.

Adoption Fees:

Adoption fees include a full vet check, desexing, microchipping, up to date flea and worm treatments, and the first F3 vaccination.   Each adoptee goes home with a few of their favourite toys and a small sample bag of food.  All vet work is provided by the Animal Welfare League SA.

Kittens:  $150.00

Adults:  $50.00

We will hold an adoption cat for 24 hours only, if you need a bit of time to make that final decision.  If you have fallen in love with one in particular but are not able to take home your adoptee immediately, a 50% deposit is required up front and we will hold on to your friend for up to 3 days from that date to give you some time to get ready for your new arrival.

If you still have further questions about our adoption process, please feel free to drop us a line via the website, email or phone.  If you are in the area, drop in to see us.  We will be happy to answer/address any of your questions or concerns.
